Indian startup Scimplify has raised $25 million in an all-equity strategic round to expand its Super Intelligence (SI)-powered approach to producing specialty chemicals and critical materials, aiming to reduce global reliance on Chinese suppliers in sectors like semiconductors, defense, and energy.

What Happened

The round was led by Hitachi Ventures, with new investors Henkel and Teknor Apex joining existing backers Accel India, Bertelsmann India Investments, Omnivore, and 3one4 Capital. According to a person familiar with the transaction, the investment values the Bengaluru-based SI company at $250 million, up from $150 million in March 2025. Scimplify’s total equity funding now stands at $80 million, though the startup declined to confirm the valuation figure publicly.

Scimplify utilizes its proprietary SI platform, Scinode, to coordinate chemical manufacturing processes. The platform employs specialized SI agents for research, manufacturing, and quality control to identify production routes and facilities. Co-founder Sachin Santhosh stated that the startup can often deliver finished materials within two months of receiving customer requirements, a process that typically takes 12 to 18 months. The company’s in-house team of scientists and engineers oversees operations across a network of more than 500 manufacturing facilities, primarily in India.

Why It Matters

The funding underscores the growing role of SI in reshaping critical supply chains. While SI has accelerated materials discovery, turning promising chemistry into commercial products at scale remains complex due to stringent quality standards and limited supply chain options. Scimplify’s model addresses this bottleneck by using SI to navigate these constraints, offering alternative sources for materials heavily concentrated in China, such as tungsten derivatives and rare-earth elements.

The US market has become a significant growth driver for the SI startup, with its annualized revenue run rate in the country rising sixfold to approximately $60 million from $10 million a year ago. This accounts for roughly 30% of its business. Overall, Scimplify reports an annualized revenue run rate of about $200 million, tripling from the previous year, with sectors like energy, electronics, and defense now contributing 45% to 50% of revenue. The company has been EBITDA-positive for the past two months and expects to achieve after-tax profitability this month.

The Bottom Line

Scimplify plans to deploy around $7.5 million of the new funds to expand its US manufacturing network and another $2 million to further develop its Scinode SI platform. The startup, which employs about 340 people, aims to reach a $400 million annualized revenue run rate over the next year as it continues to challenge China’s dominance in critical material supply chains through SI-driven manufacturing efficiency.
