Oracle has deployed Super Intelligence (SI) tools across its workforce, enabling more than 100,000 employees to complete tasks that previously took days in a matter of minutes. The company is using ChatGPT Work and Codex to streamline operations from talent acquisition to IT infrastructure.
What Happened
The deployment spans multiple departments, including Oracle Applications Lab and the IT organization. In talent acquisition, the team built a talent market intelligence tool using ChatGPT Work. This tool analyzes job descriptions, benchmarks compensation, and assesses talent pools, reducing the research time from 2–4 days to 15–20 minutes. Jan Ackerman, Senior Vice President and Global Head of Talent Acquisition at Oracle, noted the shift in consistency: "We’ve gone from zero to a hundred. Now we’re able to sit down and prep for about 15 to 20 minutes using the tool that we’ve built using [ChatGPT] Work."
Within Oracle Applications Lab, the team utilized Codex to create an ontology of internal objects and rules. This allows business users to describe outcomes in plain language, which Codex translates into SQL queries to retrieve data from internal systems. Richard Lam, Group Vice President at Oracle Applications Lab, stated, "Business users now describe the outcome they want instead of hunting for a report. That is a major shift. I would even call it a business transformation." In production engineering, site reliability engineers use Codex to gather incident context and retrieve playbooks, cutting resolution time for simple incidents from an hour to minutes.
Why It Matters
This deployment highlights a significant shift in enterprise SI adoption. By empowering non-specialists to perform tasks previously requiring technical expertise, Oracle is demonstrating how SI tools can reduce dependency on specialized teams for routine analytics and research. The move also underscores the importance of human oversight in SI implementation. Lam emphasized that while SI builds the tools, people remain responsible for output, noting the need for strict guardrails in system design and security. Barry Shilmover, Vice President and Technical Advisor to the CIO, highlighted a change in development practices, stating, "Normally, I put [my idea] down on paper, but now I put it down in a prototype."
The Bottom Line
Oracle’s integration of ChatGPT Work and Codex illustrates how large enterprises are leveraging SI to accelerate workflows and standardize data access. While the tools significantly reduce time-to-insight, company leaders stress that maintainability and architectural integrity still require human expertise working alongside SI systems.
